๐ Stormwater Operations & Community Votes
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our meeting with Jonas and Emiliee from City Stormwater! It was a productive night, and we're feeling much more empowered about the future of our lake.
Key Takeaways from Jonas Alered (Stormwater Operations Engineer):
- ๐ The Depth Factor: We learned that "average depth" is the main metric the City uses for dredging priority. Because of a previous equipment issue on the City's end, our last official reading was back in 2016 (5.4ft).
- ๐ Mark Your Calendars: Diamond Lake is scheduled for a fresh, in-depth inspection in August 2026. This will include a new depth reading that will determine our spot on the priority list.
- ๐๏ธ Unique Lake History: Since our lake is a former borrow pit from the 50s/60s, the City noted it might require unique considerations once we hit the top of the dredging list.
- ๐งช Water Quality: While the City doesn't "manage" the lake's water quality directly, we are pushing for more info on their MS4 obligations. We've pointed out that our water clarity declined after the City installed six stormwater outfalls, and we're looking into how the City is responsible for the water flowing into our lake from those pipes.
We've requested the City's presentation slides and will share them here as soon as we have them!
Civic League Internal Votes:
- โ Dues Update: To support our ongoing efforts and community health, we voted to increase annual dues from $25 to $50 starting in 2027.
- โ Fishing-Only Guest Passes: We officially approved member-sponsored fishing guest passes! $5 daily and $25 yearly.
Thank you for staying involved! Our collective voice is what gets things done! ๐ค
